4. Course Description:
This course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a combination of artificial respiration and artificial circulation. The student will learn to recognize respiratory and cardiac arrest and provide basic life support until advanced life support is available. American Heart Association Certification will be given on successful course completion. Course is offered on demand.

- CPR for Adults –Basic overview, chest compressions, Opening airway and Compression-Ventilation Ratio
- CPR for children ( 1 year of age to puberty)-Modifications for children, CPR for low heart rate
- Adult and child bag mask technique and rescue breathing – One and two rescuer use
- 2-resucer CPR for adults and children –
- Automated External Defibrillator – Principles of early defibrillation, Use on a child, Common steps of use
- CPR for infants – 1 and 2 rescuer
- Relief of choking – Conscious and unconscious
- Special Considerations – Safety, Cricoid pressure, Recovery position
- The Big picture – Chain of survival
