A. Introduce the basic symbols of music notation and their meanings
B. Use these symbols in writing simple music.

A. Introduce key signatures and scales and their relationships.
B. Use these elements in analyzing written music.

3. Intervals and chords
A. Define and recognize intervals and their names and functions.
B. Define and build chords using combinations of intervals to construct the various types

4. Final Project presentation.
A. Create a finished music composition
B. Present it to the instructor for evaluation.
