4. Course Description:

This performing ensemble encompasses age levels from high school to adult and musicianship levels intermediate primary instrument and intermediate secondary instrument in a classical symphonic band setting. The ensemble prepares and performs traditional and contemporary band literature in public performance with one concert per semester. This course is repeatable and part of the AFA-Music degree. MnTC Goal 6

1. ‘Sensitizing’ will occur at the beginning of each rehearsal and performance using a web-based classical-symphonic digital method encompassing technique variations and traditional wind band performance genres
• Chromatic, major and minor scales

• Discussion of historical music period
• Discussion of music style with specific regards to performance practice
• Rehearsal of compositions appropriate to the skill level of the performers
• Rehearsal of all musical elements written or terraced within the literature
• Sectionals led by a rotation of section leaders to create section identity and pride for the purpose of a more proficient and passionate performance and ensemble sound.
