4. Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a supervised experience working at a human service agency. Students will gain knowledge and skills relevant to social work concepts as well as practice modeling the values and ethics of the profession.
Students working in the human services or social work field are often required to complete and pass and Minnesota Department of Human Services background study. Passing the background study is not required to complete this program, but may be required for some field experience placements and/or jobs in the field.

2015, Chapter 5, Article 3, Section 21 all Minnesota State Colleges and Universities agree to the following principles governing the transfer pathways for baccalaureate degrees. The transfer pathway specifically ensures that a student who successfully completes an Pre-Social Work Transfer Pathway Associate of Science (AS) can transfer the full degree into a parallel baccalaureate degree program in Social work at one of seven Minnesota State university. Primarily, this field experience will focus on: Demonstrating Ethical and Profesional Behavior, Engaging Diversity and Difference in Practice, and Engaging with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities.
