4. Course Description:

This course is a general introduction to human biology with a structure/function approach. Major topics include basic chemistry, cell biology, and anatomy and physiology, including organization of the body into organs and organ systems. Topics will be covered utilizing a systems approach (i.e. integumentary system, skeletal system, cardiovascular system, etc). Lab sessions will allow students to apply the scientific method and will involve use of a microscope and dissection of a small mammal. This course is designed for allied health majors, as well as social work and non-science majors. Three hours lecture and two-hour lab weekly. MnTC Goal 3
