Students will demonstrate knowledge of drug action and observing effects of medications with administration. 2. Course Specific Outcomes - Students will be able to achieve the following measurable goals upon completion of
the course:
- Practice fundamental nursing psycho-motor skills related to medication administration;
- Interpret medication orders;
- Understand the use of Drug Reference Books;
- Identify specific drug classifications and their actions and side effects;
- Demonstrate safe procedures in medication administration in the oral, eye, ear, topical, nasal, subcutaneous injections, and rectal routes; and
- Demonstrate obtaining a blood glucose test.

- Oral medications (including tablets/capsules, multi-dose packaging Vs. single dose packaging, liquids, solutions needing mixing, inhalers, etc.)
- Subcutaneous medications (preparation, insulin mixing, site selection and rotation)
- Narcotic Administration and Waste Record
- Ear Instillation
- Eye Instillation
- Inhaled Medication
- Nasal Medication
- Rectal Medication
- Subcutaneous Medication (preparation, insulin pen use, mixing insulin, site selection and rotation)
- Transdermal Medication
- Demonstrate point of care blood glucose testing
