- Self Assessment – take it, discuss it, think and write about it, accept it.
- Accepting personal responsibility – Victim and Creator language; inner critic, defender, and guide; Wise Choice Process; Stink’ Think’ (Activating events + Beliefs = Consequences)
- Benefits of Journaling and Embracing Change activities
- Creating self-motivation (Value x Expectation of Success = Motivation) Identifying academic and personal outcomes and experiences that promote success. Goal setting, affirmation and visualizing as methods for promoting success. Developing an internal locus of control
- Mastering Self-Management – calendars, Next Actions lists, Tracking Forms, 32-Day Commitment, Time Quadrants are vehicles to sharpen focus and persisitence with purposeful actions.
- Employing interdependence – ways of relating (dependence, codependence, independence, interdependence) and maturity. Steps in the active listening process. Blaming, Placating, and Leveling. Saying “No”
- Self-awareness – recognizing when you’re off course. Understanding self-sabotage and unconscious forces. Scripts = Patterns + Core Beliefs. Rewriting scripts and changing habits. Active listening and Learning Styles. Developing Self-Respect through course corrections.
