4. Course Description:
This performing ensemble encompasses age levels from high school to adult and musicianship levels from intermediate to expert in a percussion ensemble setting. The ensemble prepares and performs traditional and contemporary percussion ensemble literature in public performance with one concert per year in addition to public performances in varying venues as opportunities arise. This course is repeatable. MnTC Goal 6

- Demonstrate awareness of the scope and variety of works in the arts and humanities; prepare and perform compositions from various historical periods and band music styles;
- Understand those works as expressions of individual and human values within an historical and social context;
- Describe what the compositions represent in the context of the period in which they were created;
- Respond critically to the compositions being prepared and to the quality of the performance (MnTC Goal 6);
- Engage in the creative process by contributing their interpretive and musical skills in the preparation process (MnTC Goal 6); and
- Articulate their reactions to the music, the performance and the preparation process (MnTC Goal 6).
