4. Course Description:
This course will provide on-the-job experience to students. The students will be assigned to work in a physician's office for a total of 225 clock hours. The students will work under the supervision of clinic and clinic office personnel doing tasks related to the student's program curriculum. The students will be required to attend an eight hour in class review day in July to review what they learned on their internships and to prepare for either the CMA or RMA National Certification Exams.

2. Course Specific Outcomes - Students will be able to achieve the following measurable goals upon completion of
the course:
- Demonstrate appropriate soft skills; i.e., punctuality, cooperation, time management, team player;
- Demonstrate ethical decision-making as it relates to the workplace;
- Demonstrate application of theoretical information from multiple courses to the workplace environment;
- Demonstrate entry level administrative and clinical skills in the clinical setting with guidance from a mentor;
- Prepare a ten to fifteen minute oral presentation to be presented at the face-to-face meeting in July;
- Demonstrate and abide by appropriate HIPAA guidelines for confidentiality as it relates to patients;
- Prepare for and pass the National Certification Exam of their choice.
