Career Description: Webmasters are responsible for: • maintaining websites for clients and businesses • ensuring that web servers, hardware and software are operating accurately • designing websites • generating and revising web pages • deciding what kind of computer will hold a web site's information • deciding and managing web hosting services. The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites, from layout to function and according to a client's specifications. Students will learn to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. The national median annual Webmaster salary is $72,851, as of 2017, with a range usually between $62,305-$83,729. However actual salaries can vary widely depending on a variety of factors.

Program Information: This program will prepare you to develop complex websites for both internet content and web applications. It provides you with hands-on experience in creating web pages by training you on how to work through all components of a website project, from design to coding to security. Students will learn HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript coding languages. You will also gain layout and design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud. At the end of this program, you will be able to create dynamic web pages with content that can alter and respond to the interaction of site visitors. The program covers all of the skills you’ll need to be successful in the web development environment.

Program Outcomes:
Graduates will be able to:

  • Select appropriate software tools to achieve affective web design solutions;
  • Communicate design concepts at various stages of web development;
  • Proficiently use software programming techniques and skills to create websites;
  • Design web pages using HTML5/CSS, PHP, JavaScript/JQuery, and other programming languages; and
  • Design, implement, and manage databases for ecommerce.

 

Special Program Requirements:

In addition to the program requirements listed above, students must meet the following conditions in order to graduate:

  1. College Cumulative GPA Requirement: Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of credits attempted and completed at CLC must be at least 2.0;
  2. College Technical Core GPA Requirement: Cumulative GPA of credits attempted and completed towards the technical core of the diploma or degree must be at least 2.0;
  3. Residency Requirement: students must complete 25% of their credits at Central Lakes College.
  4. Webmaster Certificate students are required to purchase an Apple Macintosh laptop with the Adobe Creative Cloud software. See latest requirement through bookstore website.
