4. Course Description:

This is a course for students of all ages and fitness levels introducing the main components of wellness and of physical fitness – cardio respiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition, and nutrition. Students will focus on self-evaluation in each component and personal program planning for living a healthier life. Current topics in wellness and/or fitness will be addressed. Students will choose a capstone project which will be either a written or oral research based study, or service learning activity based project. Courses in the Honors Program emphasize independent inquiry, informed discourse, and direct application within small, transformative, and seminar-style classes that embrace detailed examinations of the material and feature close working relationships with instructors. In addition, students learn to leverage course materials so that they can affect the world around them in positive ways.
